Sioux Empire Fair sees record attendance
– By #RSA
The 76th Annual Sioux Empire Fair was a huge success again this year, with the help of Robert Sharp and Associates and their support of the event for the fourth year running. This year’s fair saw an increase in attendance of 14.5% from 2014, bringing in 321,443 guests to the annual event, which opened on July 31st with the Sneak Peek Night featuring Goodroad in the Budweiser Beer Garden. The events did not stop there.
RSA staff helped to promote and execute the Sioux Empire Fair again this year, and Vice President and Director of Event Management Stacey Sharp attended the event and helped with on the ground operations and promotions. With the goal of bringing in more people and ensuring that everyone had a great time, Sharp worked to help at the fair and leading up to it to help promote the event and gather events that would attract large crowds.
Some events held this year that drew in large crowds were Agriculture Appreciation Day and Senior Citizen Appreciation Day, carnival promotions such as $1.00 carnival rides on BillionAuto.com Appreciation Day, $15 wristbands on Half Price Tuesday, and $10.00 off a wristband on Cantastic Thursday. More than 2,800 pounds of food were collected and donated to Feeding South Dakota as a result of Cantastic Tuesday. Promotions such as these helped draw in large crowds and increase attendance, as well as ensured everyone had an enjoyable time.
Always a popular event is the grandstand entertainment, which is free with paid fair admission. This year’s entertainment included The Wallflowers, Dan + Shay, Lee Brice, and Brett Eldredge. And what would a fair be without the PRCA Rodeo, featuring entertainment by the Wisconsin FMX group and JJ Harrison, the Coors Rodeo Clown of the Year. Other popular entertainment included the K-9’s in Flight and performances by the FUNomental Hypnotist, Sherwin Linton, and other local artists.
Each year’s event presents its own challenges, but with the help of RSA, each year it is executed with precision and gets better and better. In addition to on the ground support, RSA works to host and design the Sioux Empire Fair website, www.siouxempirefair.com. The goal is to make sure all of the important information is immediately available for guests looking to go to the fair and making it easy to navigate, as well as keeping it up to date and relevant, which can be a year round task.
The 77th Annual Sioux Empire Fair is scheduled for August 5-14, 2016 and the theme is Growing with the Fair. RSA is already working hard with fair officials to ensure that it is another year for the record books and attendance is bigger than ever. There are only 274 days left and plenty to do!
