The Spotlight Was Shining Brightly

by Jack Sitch,
Video Production Associate

Before I even begin, the Video Department members past and present are so proud of Robert Sharp with his Silver Medal Award presentation from the AAF-Black Hills during the 2010 ADDY® Awards. What an incredible honor for a very deserving leader in the advertising world.

What a first quarter is has been for the BBM Studios’ Video Department.

Wow… And I do mean Wow!

While the pace of production has been hectic, we found ourselves in the bright lights of a video premiere and numerous awards. The first of these gala occasions was the public premiere of “The Choice” from RSA and Western Dakota Tech. WDT’s Marketing Director Stephen Buchholz, the school’s administration and staff hosted the premiere presentation of the video at the Journey Museum on January 29. What a grand occasion with family and friends, RSA colleagues and staff, and many others in attendance for the showing.

It seemed like the warmth of the spotlight was just beginning to fade when RSA and BBM Studios (Graphic Design and Video Production) along with many of our colleagues stepped right back into the light with the 2010 ADDY® Awards for Advertising Excellence as hosted by the AAF-Black Hills. In the video department, we were fortunate enough to be blessed with two Gold ADDY® Awards. The first was for Video Sales Presentation for Western Dakota Tech’s “The Choice.” The second was for Local TV Campaign for WDT’s “Seriously” campaign. Then just in case our egos weren’t big enough yet, “Seriously” took home the Tommy Award (Best in Show) for the night. Wow!

SMA Video Presentation

With all of that though, our proudest moments were with the presentation of the Silver Medal Award to Robert Sharp. The SMA Video Presentation for his award was a tremendous amount of fun for Sean and I. Plus hearing so many stories that didn’t make the cut… well, let’s just say we had a lot of fun and want to thank everyone who was a part of the video.

The night of the 2010 ADDY® Awards was great, and just as we were coming down off of our professional high, we were notified that the “Seriously” campaign won the Best of Show 25th Annual Educational Advertising Awards from Higher Educational Marketing Magazine. Another Wow! Western Dakota Tech and RSA were placed in the same category with schools like Yale University, University of Pennsylvania, Robert Morris University, the University of Texas at Arlington and many others.

All these awards really mean just one thing: the professionals at RSA are great to work with. From the Account Executives like Stacie Granum and Vincent Tyson, to RSA Interactive personnel like Kyle McCabe and Allan Emerson and the BBM Studios Graphics pros like Amanda Murner and Justin Mather. We get to work with the best and that makes our lives so much easier.

Featured Work

As for other projects, Sean and I worked with Calvary Lutheran Church on their Debt Retirement DVD “Keeping the Promise.” This video is the culmination of the campaign to build the beautiful and majestic new Calvary Lutheran Church on Sheridan Lake Road. Working with the Reverend Dwight Stensgaard, their consultant and a host of wonderful church members allowed us to tell the final chapter in this successful story.

From the final chapter of one story we moved to the first chapter of another story as the innovative teams at RSA and WDT created a new bi-monthly production: WDTv Recess. This on-going combination of “live” TV and webcast is a fun “Red Eye” (Fox News Channel) meets “Wayne’s World” for the Marketing Team at WDT. It's also our chance to tell you about the part-time addition to our Video Department staff, Nate Haggerty. Nate brings a background in developing and producing skiing videos and adds a youthful exuberance to BBM Studios Video Department.

Thanks for being a part of the RSA family. Sean, Nate and I look forward to working and collaborating with you in the future.

Kindest Regards,

Jack Sitch
