RSA Happenings
Interactive Marketing
Most of the companies we work with understand that interactive marketing is growing at a record-breaking pace. They’ve heard of Twitter, Facebook and search engine optimization, but they’re not exactly sure what any of it is – or how to use these tools to cultivate their business.
Staying Ahead of the Curve
Today’s technology is surging ahead so quickly that even college students can’t always keep up. I recently spoke to a SDSU marketing class and, to my surprise, a mere 10% of the students understood search engine marketing in basic terms.
Thankfully, the RSA Interactive division employs a team of specialists who are researching daily to stay on top of the latest interactive strategies – and they relish the opportunity to use those tools to create innovate marketing concepts which end in positive results for our clients.
Moving Forward
While RSA will continue to utilize traditional media like radio, billboards, television and print, it’s undeniable that the future of our industry lies in interactive marketing. Nearly 90% of our new clients sign on for web-based services, a sure sign that our business is moving swiftly in that direction.
Our prowess in the growing fields of search engine optimization, social media, e-commerce, and website design have led to tangible results for our clients. As our team races forward in these rising areas, we’re excited to continue bringing the latest interactive marketing strategies back home to South Dakota and our clients.

Case Study
Prairie Edge Trading Co.
The Challenge
Prairie Edge Trading Co. & Galleries provides high-quality Native American art through its Rapid City-based retail store and worldwide through its web presence. When RSA Interactive began working with Prairie Edge in 2008, their website had unacceptably low organic search visibility.
The Solution
RSA developed a strategic plan using keyword management to elevate the site’s overall click-through rate and drive relevant traffic to the site. Additionally, we distributed optimized press releases to increase visibility and promote their online credibility with users. Using social media monitoring, we also tracked user conversations about Prairie Edge to better understand the buzz surrounding their brand.
Based on continued keyword research and analysis, we discovered that revamping weak spots in the Prairie Edge website would provide a better experience for users and improve the site’s search ranking.
RSA then worked with Prairie Edge to develop new ways for customers to interact with the site, providing a more social and personalized user experience. Our team created customized product suggestions based on customer likes and dislikes, and added a wish list option, among other new features.
The Results
Prairie Edge needed to see results quickly, and they did: After the first 3 months of implementing RSA’s strategy, their site traffic had increased significantly, the percentage of new users had doubled, and sales were booming - from January 2008 to January 2009, their online sales rose 148%.
The revamped website debuted in mid-March 2010 and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. RSA will track traffic and search statistics for the new site, and we expect to see an increase in new users, longer page view times, and an increase in online sales.
The Takeaway
SEO and social media can increase traffic and help your site reach its full marketing potential. Interactive marketing is an ongoing process, and must be reassessed and updated continuously to remain relevant. Even when you’re getting great results, it’s not over – new strategies must be developed to maintain or increase those results.
