"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."
~ Theodore Roosevelt
Things you may not know about Scott:
-
He once ran the New York Marathon.
-
He's the proud Dad and Grandpa of a blended family, with 6 kids and 8 grandkids.
-
Growing up he hoped to become an architect.
-
His passions include hiking, biking, skiing, and swimming (just not in the middle of the ocean).
Both selling and a love for travel were instilled in Scott at a young age. Born in Montana and raised in Rapid City, he has fond memories of traveling across the Midwest with his dad, the consummate traveling salesman, to sell food for Nash Finch.
His travel extended to the high seas when he joined the Navy as a communications radioman and the ship’s swimmer.
He was responsible for jumping in to save people who fell overboard – but only if the ocean was too turbulent to put a boat in. Thankfully he was not required to make any daring rescues during his tenure in the service, but he did get to see the world. Years later, Scott’s passport reads like a geography lesson: nearly every island in the Pacific, China, Japan, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico (and close to all 50 states).
A graduate of Black Hills State University, Scott holds a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and Advertising. He’s been around the block in the advertising world, with 15 years of experience in broadcasting and 7 in the newspaper industry. He recently returned to Rapid City after two decades away, and is thrilled to be back in the beautiful Black Hills.
